From Erik Saties »musique d'ameublement« to Brian Eno's sound pieces for showrooms, airports and museums, ambient music has a widespread development. In my own compositions of this genre it is important for me that the music can be listened to as a steady accoustic furnishing, but at the same time it needs to provide a good amount of musical tension by permanent modification in the microcosm. Examples here are the piece for organs and keyboards »adagio«, the electronic »Ouroboros«, the composition , written in Thailand, for solo double bass (the bass himself in Thai ambience), »procession«, produced in New York City, and the computer music piece »i.m.J.C.« – originated after John Cage‘s death in 1992 (here with Peter Hölscher‘s Liquid Image »Kolumba«).
