Some texts were written to be set to music. Other texts are simply texts, but are deepened and interpreted when set to music. I wrote the song »4 Kaninchen« when I was 17 and still play it today. »Garden of Love« and »Mad Song« (the second one in the tradition of the 'Mad Songs' – a popular genre of the 17th century of English music history) are settings of William Blake’s poems. James Joyce wrote the limericks for »Without Time, Quiet or Money« and Joachim Ringelnatz the text »Ich hab dich so lieb«. »Ma Sylvie« is related to the chansons of Erik Satie...
